second by Steve Smith to approve the December 29, 2008 minutes. Motion carried.
FIRE
DEPARTMENT: Beginning January 26, 2009, I will be working
on getting the smoke detector program up and going. This program will be called “GET OUT
ALIVE.” The HVFD will be sponsoring a
Chili Dinner on Saturday, February 7th beginning at 4:00 p.m. at the
fire hall. The fire department has a
need to replace air packs and bottles and asked that the town manager explore
the available FEMA grants.
UTILITY
DEPARTMENT: Snow plowing was a routine event the past
month. A rear deflector shield was replaced on the hopper spreader and there is
a bearing that will need to be replaced as well. Salt and sand mix will be purchased from
Klink Trucking @$100.00 a ton delivered.
The last few loads were purchased from Irving Sand and Gravel at a cost
of $105.00 a ton and any future loads would have been a higher amount.
CLERK‘S
REPORT: The 2009 Region 111A appointment letter has been received. The Park Board is presenting free movies at
the Town Hall Saturday night, January 31st. There is a movie scheduled for the younger
group from 7:00-9:00 and from 9:00-11:00 for the older group. The next scheduled Town Council meeting is
Friday, February 27, at 6:30 p.m.
TOWN
MANAGER: Five purchase orders were issued in January
(December 24 to January 21) for $1,511.84, which is also the total for the year
to date. In January 2009, 4,220 visitors
looked at 10,047 pages on the Hudson web site, a 278%% increase in visits and a
236% increase in pages from a year ago.
Ammonia through the end of January averaged 43.3/mgl
on 13,599,700 gallons of total flow.
Ammonia levels were higher than the previous month. A letter was sent to K.C. Music, Inc. DBA
Greenbriar Estates on the rejection of his petition for the Town of Hudson to
accept the streets in the trailer park.
A letter was also sent indicating that a private contractor for the park
would be appropriate. The town received
a response to continue pending a decision.
A draft of the “Red Flag” rule, which pertains to security of personal
information in the water/waste utility billing system, has been completed. The
application for a grant to update grade crossing signs and signals has received
first approval. A letter from the
president, Lyle Torrence, of the Park Board requesting that members be removed
and others appointed was put on hold until after the next park Board meeting
scheduled for Thursday, February 12 at 6:30 at the Town Hall. The old utility
truck sold for $1,785 on January 6. A
Planning Commission meeting is scheduled immediately following the February
Town Council meeting. The Redevelopment
Commission meeting is scheduled prior to the February Town Council meeting at
6:15 p.m. Steuben County United Way is
hosting a “Jobless Fair”, February 17, 9:00 to 12:00 am at Trine North Campus
(near Breeden YMCA).

BUSINESS: None
NEW
BUSINESS: Due to recent
misunderstandings, Council President Brian Hayes, explained the function of the
Park Board. The name is a misnomer. The members composed an “advisory
committee”. Any number of persons can
serve and is not restricted to the corporate limits. It was suggested that no action be taken
until after the February 12th park meeting and be presented at the
Town Council meeting on February 27th.
CLAIMS: Claims were approved and signed.
