CALL TO ORDER:
President Sean Walker called the Town Council meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.

MINUTES: Motion by
Sean Walker and seconded by Gene Hamm to approve the January 26, 2007
minutes. Motion carried. Motion
by Sean Walker and seconded by Brian Hayes to approve the February 10, 2007, special
Meeting minutes. Motion carried.
FIRE DEPARTMENT: The 1980
Mack Fire Truck was donated to the Salem Center Volunteer Fire Department on February 3, 2007. As a Salem Center truck, it
had its first “rub” on February 7. A
Sausage and Biscuit breakfast is scheduled for Saturday, March 3rd
from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
Little League Sign-up will also be held.
The Hurst hoses, AP50
SCBA cylinders and air packs have arrived.
MARSHAL: Three Automatic External
Defibrillators (AED), cabinet, and oxygen have been ordered from the $5,000
Steuben Community Foundation Grant. Two applications for Reserves are
pending. Deputy Danny Concus will be
attending Breath Test for Intoxication Certification Class on February 26 and
27, 2007.
UTILITY DEPARTMENT: Cold
Heading Inc. had a sewer drainage problem and a sewer connection was found
improperly connected to the sanitary waste system. The problem was addressed to the plant
manager to have the connection problem fixed.
A county drainage tile running along Third St. between West
Wabash Street and West Depot
Street is plugged. The county surveyor office was notified of
the problem and tile will be repaired when the weather breaks. The property at 320 North
Main Street still has a sanitary sewer
connection problem; the roof drain is connected into the system. The problem was addressed again to Ron
Philips co-owner of the property and he said it would be corrected. The board directed the Town Manager to send a
letter giving thirty days to correct the problem. Ed Miller will be attending a Basic Tree Care
Workshop on March 7,
2007, in Kokomo, Indiana. The IDNR
Division of Forestry Community and Urban Forestry sponsor this workshop.
CLERK‘S REPORT: The Clerk-Treasurer and Town Manager are
continuing to review two sources of utility billing to correct areas noted in
the SBOA audit. The clerk-treasurer will
be attending the ILMCT Institute –March 11-16, in Muncie. The next Town Council meeting is scheduled
for Friday, March 23, at 5:00 p.m. at the Town Hall.
TOWN MANAGER: Eighteen
purchase orders were issued in February for a total of $16,702.99($10,000 of
which were grant funds). Soliciting proposals for new signs for the
Town Hall/Community Center is continuing.
Region III-A requested information on Hudson’s projects.
Among those proposed are:
Water/waste water line extension along SR #4, the “quiet park” at the
Kline property on South Main Street, the trees planting, the practice field on
the Easterday property on SR 4, and the new fire hall. No reply yet from Longview Communications. The free Xerox multi-functional printer,
copier, scanner is in service. The Peniel Group, as Tuscany Holdings, has completed
purchase of a one acre lot along SR 4 for the construction and subsequent lease
of a building to be used as a Family Dollar store. Jones & Henry have
started on the water/waste water lines engineering. A revised project parameter
worksheet was completed and filed with IEDC on Michigan BioDiesel. The IEDC has made no change in proposed
awards. The EAB Grant application for trees through DNR was approved. A Tree Seminar will be held on
Monday, March 12 at 6:0 p.m. at the Fremont Town offices. The status on the old service
station donation is pending. The Hudson Plan Commission will meet following the
council meting. The Steuben County address Committee meets on February 28, at 9:00
a.m. The Angola
Fire Department is sponsoring a Homeland Security Course MGT 313 on April
24-26. Daylight Savings time begins March 11, at 2:00 a.m. Remember to turn your clock ahead.
OLD BUSINESS:
NEW BUSINESS: Discussion on moving the handicap parking up one space in front of the
Post Office was tabled until spring. Louise Brock wanted to know if Hudson planned
to continue to clean up the town. She had complaints about junk cars on adjoining
property. Anna Platt made a complaint about barking dogs in her neighborhood
CLAIMS: Claims were
approved and signed.
