HUDSON PARK COMMITTEE

February 23, 2009

 

The Park Board met on Monday, February 23, 2009, at the Town Hall. Those present were:  Lyle Torrence, Lindsay Myers, Kathy Kope, Gary Kope, Bill Ebert, John McGee, Andy Mast, Brenda Mast, Ward Odom, Adam Mapes, Brittney Mapes and Tatsy Hayes. Adam Mapes was representing the Hudson Ball League.

 

The meeting was called to order at 5:35 pm by the President Lyle Torrence.  He welcomed everyone in attendance. Kathy Kope made the motion to accept the minutes of the January 8, 2009 meeting, seconded by Lindsay Myers.  Motion carried.

 

A discussion followed as to whether or not to have a movie night.  It was decided to schedule a movie for March 21st from 7:00 pm to 9:00pm.  Tatsy Hayes and Kathy Kope will be in charge of concessions.  Brenda and Andy Mast will be in charge of publicity, and Town Manager Ward Odom will handle the movie.

 

The President discussed that the motion made at the January 8 meeting concerning recommending to the Hudson Town Council the removal of Gene Hamm and Anna Platt due to lack of participation be withdrawn. A motion by Lindsay Myers, seconded by Brenda Mast was unanimously passed.  Letters were received from Anna Platt and Sarah Odom resigning from the park committee. A motion made by Lyle Torrence, seconded by Lindsay Meyers, was made that a recommendation of Andy Mast, Bill Ebert, and Brenda Mast be appointed to fill this vacancy.  Motion carried.

 

The Hudson Ball League has received a check for $2146.46 from the Steuben Community Foundation toward fencing and improvement of the ball diamond.  The rest of the cost will be provided by the Ball League.  Adam Mapes expressed the need for additional ball diamonds.  It was suggested that the league check in the land designated as the “Quiet Park” be checked out as a possible area or the property on SR 4.  There would be work to be done, but it can be used.

 

The plans for a tractor pull and site was temporary put on hold.

 

The next Park Committee meeting will be an “on call” basis.

 

Having no further business, Lyle Torrence motioned, seconded by Lindsay Myers the meeting be adjourned.  Motion carried.
