The Park Board met on Saturday, April 7, 2007 at 9:05 am in the Town Hall.  Those present were:  Louise Brock, Anna Platt, Betty Hamm, Gene Hamm, Sean Walker,

Tatsy Hayes and Chad Minier.  Also present was Pat Parker.

After everyone had a chance to read the minutes of March 10, 2007, President Chad moved, seconded by Gene Hamm to accept the minutes.  Minutes were unanimously approved.

Larry Johnson was not in attendance and the Clerk-Treasurer will contact him as to the use of the practice fields on SR #4 and the time frame to rent the Port-a-let.  Work was done on the clean-up day.  Louise Brock asked that the maintenance department clean up around the swings and rake the area.  A note will be put in their box to that affect.  The water will be turned on when the temperatures mellow and chance of freeze is less likely.

The Bike-a-Thon will be held Saturday, April 14th from 8:00-11:00 am., starting at the Town Hall.

Pat Parker asked about trimming the dead out of one of her trees scheduled to be cut.  President Minier suggested the company contracted to cut the trees be asked the extent of damage and go with their recommendation.  She also asked that a Maple tree be planted to replace one being cut.  If both trees need to be cut, she asked only to replace one due to parking.   The Bradford Pear on the Chuck Parker property will be replaced with a Flowering Cherry.  The board would like to plant 2 Maple trees in the “Quiet” park and replaced those removed on Main Street with Tulip and the Flowering Cherry.  It was suggested that either a Flowering Cherry or Tulip tree be placed on the Straley property and former Mahler property as you cross the railroad tracks.  The remaining trees planted at the office and utility department’s discretion.  Sean Walker requested a Dogwood Tree when those in the “Quiet” park are transplanted.

The Skateboard Ordinance was discussed.  It was felt that skateboarders could cross Main Street on the skateboard.  Otherwise, it was agreed that they not be allowed anywhere on Main Street, Parsonage Street, Hardy Park, or in the vicinity of commercial or industrial areas.

Gene Hamm suggest ed a new chain link fence be erected near the pavilion or at least raised in some way so that leaves would be more easily removed.  The post at the southwest corner of the pavilion is rotting out and needs to be repaired.  With the time change, Sean Walker asked that a change in the curfew at the park be reconsidered for 11:00 pm instead of 10:00 pm.  Louise Brock asked that a sander be rented to sand the tops of the picnic tables by the maintenance department.    They will bring down paint charts to decide on the color to paint the tables.

Chad Minier has tentatively set the 5 & 10K Run for Friday night, July 27th.  The 5K will remain the same.  The 10K will turn west on 700S to 575W, turn south to Parsonage Street, turn east on Parsonage to Main Street, turn left and follow the route of the 5K.  The finish line will be at the Fire Station.  The entry fee will be $15.00.  Chad Minier and the clerk-treasurer will continue to work out details.

Anna Platt reported that the Lions Club needed more information in regards to any donation to Hardy Park.  Louise Brock had no report on citizen donation.

The Ashley-Hudson Festival meeting is Tuesday, April 10th at the Ashley Town Hall.  It was requested that Hudson set a festival meeting on a Saturday to formulate plans for activities in Hudson.  Information on this meeting will be forthcoming.

The next Park Board Meeting will be Saturday, May 5th at 9:00 am in the Town Hall.  Anna Platt moved, seconded by Gene Hamm to adjourn.  Motion passed.
