After everyone had a chance to read the minutes, President Chad Minier moved, second by Sean Walker, and unanimously approved the minutes be accepted.

Larry Johnson reported that the Little League Sign-up was successful.  At present there are 7 teams including Majors and Minors.  Discussion ensued concerning practice fields on the town’s property on SR 4.  Two fields should be possible with parking available and fencing for safety.  As soon as the weather breaks, work will get started.  The little league and volunteers will also have a cleanup day at Hardy Park on March 31st at 1:00   All volunteers are welcome.

A $2500 Tree Planting Grant has been received.  Town Manager Ward Odom distributed pictures and literature on various trees and costs.  He also informed the group or the availability of 50 free white Dogwoods through Frito Lay. Following discussion, the Board decided to use the grant to purchase 11 Red Maple, 6 Tulips and to finish out with Flowering Cherry Trees.  It was suggested the Dogwoods could be planted from the Railroad south along Main Street  and in the “Quiet Park”.  The group was asked to THINK of other places to plant the Dogwoods.  Each received a map of Hudson where earlier trees have been planted and suggestions for the placement of additional Dogwoods for the next meeting.

After looking at various prices of flag poles, it was decided to not pursue a new pole at this time.

The various responsibilities of the Board were discussed and allocated as follows: The Clerk-Treasurer will remain responsible for scheduling the Parks and collecting rentals, Louise Brock accepted responsibility for preparation and cleanliness prior to rentals, the Hudson Ball League for the bleachers and concession areas.

A draft Skateboard ordinance was presented for discussion at the next meeting.

Larry Johnson announced that a Bike-a-Thon is scheduled for April 14th from 9:30-12:00.  The starting point will be in the parking lot at the Town Hall.

Chad Minier will check on the various 5K & 10 K Runs in our area so that a date can be set for a Hudson 5K Run.  Louise Brock mentioned the need for a ramp to be built to aid the physically challenged to use the park. Larry Johnson mentioned the need for a higher fence at the ball field and a retaining wall next to the concession stand.  The town manager was asked to seek out the availability of a park grant.  Louise Brock mentioned seeking donations from local residents to help with the costs of the improvement of our park.  Anna Platt was going to ask the Ashley-Hudson Lions Club for help since it was an organization helping with the needs of both towns.

The next park board meeting will be held Saturday, April 7th at 9:00 a.m.

Having no further business, President Minier moved, seconded by Anna Platt to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried.
