April 28, 2007
The Park Board met on Saturday, April 28, 2007 at 8:58
am in the Town Hall. Those present
were: Louise Brock, Anna Platt, Betty
Hamm, Gene Hamm, Sean Walker, Sarah Odom, Ward Odom, Tatsy Hayes and Chad
Minier.
President Chad Minier moved, seconded by Gene
Hamm to accept the minutes of the April 7, 2007 minutes. Minutes were
unanimously approved.
The Town Manager reported
that 8 trees have been cut, 2 trimmed, and 2 or 3 yet to trim. Sites were picked for the 6 Cherry, 11
Maples, and 6 Tulip trees. Maps were
given to show the locations.
Sharon Stroh is still
working on putting together the Hardy Park Grant. She will get back with more information.
The Skateboard Ordinance and
changes were discussed. As to allowing
skateboarders to cross Main Street on their skateboards, Ward mentioned that
this was not feasible due to a near accident with a skateboarder darting in
front of a car. The ordinance will state that skate boards, rollers skates,
in-line skates, coasters, scooters, and toy vehicles will not be allowed
anywhere on Main Street, Parsonage Street, Hardy Park, or in the vicinity of
commercial or industrial areas.
Chad Minier has set the 5
& 10K Run for Friday night, July 27th. Registration will begin at 6:15 pm and the
race at 7:00pm. The 5K will run to 700S,
left to 575W, through Circle Cemetery to Parsonage to Main Street and finish at
the Hardy Park.
Many activities have been
planned for the A-H Festival. Sarah Odom
reported that the “Silent Auction” is well under way and there are baskets on
display in the Town Hall. Bidding will
close at 7:00 p.m. prior to the
dance. Postcards have been sent to the
previous year registrants for the 2006 Farmer’s Market for this year festival
Farmer’s Market. Completed coloring
pages have been received for the “Coloring Contest”. Sarah
Odom said that help would be needed from the Park Board for assistance and supervision
of the games and activities in Hardy Park.
Rev. Burkholder has been asked for help from their youth group and Chad
Minier is also going to ask for help from his church’s youth group. We are hoping that the U. B. Church will hold
an Ice Cream Social, but no verification has been received. Anna Platt said that the Lion’s Club would
have a concession trailer at the park.
Ward Odom reported on the Fireworks, donations, and raffle. Donations of $350 has been received and
deposited along with $13.92 from donation cans.
It is still early and as time grows closer, there is no doubt more will
be coming in. He also mentioned that the
group displaying the fireworks would have a very spectacular close.
There will be an A-H
Festival meeting on May 1st at 6:00 p.m. in the Ashley Community
Center.
The next meeting is
scheduled is June 9th at 9:00 a.m. in the Town Hall.
Having no further business,
the president motioned, seconded by Sean Walker to close the meeting. The meeting adjourned at 9:45 a.m.
